Marbles

Freedom is a beautiful thing. We’re allowed to go where we want, be what we want, and live life how we want to an extent, and summer reminds me of that all the more. The sun lingers in the sky, scattering its golden rays. The warm air and gentle breezes flowing through the trees. The sunsets at the beach. The distant murmur of friends in the distance.

It all reminds me of the interconnectedness but also of the isolation of the world. You see, everyone is living in their own parallel world with their beliefs, values, wants, needs, and dreams. But every now and then, they bump into each other and share a moment in time. A childhood friend that moved away, a stranger asking for directions, a brief look of understanding. A sentence, a statement, or even a single word can change the course of events.

While these connections may not be permanent, they can still have a profound impact. These collisions and separations are what’s so beautiful. The flow of the world allows for these endless embers of life to be born. The intermingling of energy, thoughts, and time. Like marbles as numerous as the stars, we roll around on our own paths, and on occasion we collide with the force to change everything.
